Current Volunteer Roles
It’s an exciting time at The Hope Hub and from time to time, we need to expand our volunteer team. Volunteers contribute in a variety of ways from general helpers, meet and greet, cleaners, kitchen helpers and L2 qualified cooks and many more.
Please note that The Hope Hub accepts volunteers who are 21+ years of age and should complete a Volunteer Application Form demonstrating how they can fulfil the role description.

What is it like Volunteering at The Hope Hub?
This year I have been involved in 2 projects – Digital Lifeline and Affordable Cooking. It’s been great to work so closely with the Service Users and see their experience and confidence grow. In both projects the groups have built up a great rapport and really work well together and support each other.
I love volunteering at THH. The team are fantastic and the work they do is amazing and I’m so pleased that I can play a small part in it.
I have greatly enjoyed my involvement in the slow cooker project and honestly, no thanks is necessary. If I can help just a little, then I am very pleased to do so. It is a bonus that everyone at the Hope Hub has been so welcoming. I look forward to hearing about any plans for future courses and hope to be involved.
I really appreciate you helping me get more experience from The Hope Hub and I have really enjoyed getting to know the service users. Thank you for all the help.

How many days would I need to volunteer?
You can set your schedule for the most part. However the opening hours are when we need volunteers the most.
Do you need a DBS to volunteer?
For most volunteering roles you will need a DBS.
Can I add my volunteering role to my CV?
Yes, you can add volunteering to your CV. We can provide references based on the time spent volunteering if that helps you with a job application.
What do you look for in a volunteer?
Have a positive outlook and manner.
Are able to help without judgement or discrimination.
Are excellent communicators.
Demonstrate good listening skills.
Are patient and encouraging.
Are able to work as part of a team and independently.
Will be reliable and committed to the role and the team.
How will I be supported in my new role?
In the first few weeks, we will help you to understand more about the charity, our Service Users and your role as part of your induction process. You will be able to access our policies, a volunteer handbook and training materials at the hub or at your convenience via our secure volunteer webpages. You will also be supported by senior staff, our Volunteer Coach and our most experienced volunteers, who you are welcome to shadow until your feel confident and settled.
Will there be opportunities for training and developing my skills?
Certainly. There is a range of volunteering roles at The Hope Hub and we will work to your strengths and interests to find the best role for you. For example, some of the Welcome team volunteers have offered to cook hot lunches for the Service Users, so they have received free training in Food Safety and Hygiene, and in allergens. Others are interested in learning more about Blood Pressure monitoring and first aid, so we are facilitating volunteer training in those areas. Volunteers have a variety of ways to share their views and ideas which helps us to make their volunteering experience richer and the services we offer even better.
