1. Welcome Team Volunteer

Thank you for considering volunteering with us! We are at an exciting time of development as we seek to stand in the gap and support those who are at risk of becoming homeless or are already. We meet each person where they are, identify their strengths, aims and hopes and seek to empower them to become the best they can be as they engage on our SERVICES PATHWAY.

We are open Tuesday to Friday from 09.30 – 15.30 hrs Days and Hours of Work to be agreed with you. The purpose of this role is to welcome Clients on arrival at The Hope Hub, help them feel comfortable and establish what services they need to access.

Primary Duties will include:  The ideal candidate must have a passion for helping others.  We run an appointment booking system for Clients to meet with their Caseworkers as well as Clients accessing our Crisis Services including on-site meals, shower and laundry facilities. Dealing with clients in a helpful and constructive way is essential as the role will include ensuring the facilities are used in an orderly manner and kept clean.  Helping to keep the small clothing bank tidy and ensure donations made to THH are recorded and stored in a manner that allows easy access to clothes and toiletries etc for a drop-in service for Clients between 10am – 2pm Tuesday to Friday.

Skills/Knowledge/Attitude:  A positive outlook and manner are required and help without discrimination is essential. You will be a people person with good listening and communication skills.  Able to communicate well in a clear and patient manner  Able to work well as part of a team  Reliability commitment and trustworthiness Training  You will be guided through the key policies and procedures and asked to sign your agreement to follow them including a confidentiality agreement.  All volunteer roles require a DBS check. THH will arrange this for you.  Reasonable Travel/Parking will be re-imbursed to you each week. (receipt required)  The post will be supervised by members of the Caseworker team overseen by Ops & CW Leader.

2. Volunteer Administration Support

We are open Tuesday to Friday from 09.30 – 15.30 hrs Days and Hours of Work to be agreed with you

Primary Duties will include:  Answering the phone and accurately recording and relaying the information/transferring calls in a timely manner.  Preparing refreshments / purchasing consumables as required  Using the computer, Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint and assisting with administrative duties as required (reasonable knowledge/experience required)  Assisting the CEO and Fundraiser as required  Assisting the Operations & Case Work Leader as required

Training  You will be guided through the key policies and procedures and asked to sign your agreement to follow them including a confidentiality agreement.  All volunteer roles require a DBS check. THH will arrange this for you.  Reasonable Travel/Parking will be re-imbursed to you each week. (receipt required)

3. Volunteer Kitchen Cook

We provide a meal for our Clients during opening hours. We are seeking Volunteer Kitchen Cooks to prepare meals and be responsible for a small team of Kitchen Assistant Volunteers. A number of cooks will be appointed to cover our opening hours. A team approach and flexible attitude is therefore needed.

Skills/Knowledge/Attitude:  The post holder will report to the Operations & Casework Leader or CEO in the absence of the Ops & Casework Leader. Ability to work well as part of a team and be creative in cooking nutritious meals from donated items. The kitchen is fitted out with the necessary equipment for cater for 10-20 meals/day at busy times.  Reliability, commitment and trustworthiness will be essential.  The post holder will hold a basic food hygiene certificate or be prepared to undertake relevant training and can be arranged by THH.  You will be guided through the key policies and procedures and asked to sign your agreement to follow them including a confidentiality agreement.  All volunteer roles require a DBS check. THH will arrange this for you.  Reasonable Travel/Parking will be re-imbursed to you each week. (receipt required)

4. Volunteer Kitchen Assistant

We meet each person where they are, identify their strengths, aims and hopes and seek to empower them to become the best they can be as they engage on our SERVICES PATHWAY. We are open Tuesday to Friday from 09.30 – 15.30 hrs Days and Hours of Work to be agreed with you  As part of our Crisis Support Services, we are seeking Kitchen Assistant Volunteers to help with preparing and serving meals, and with the cleaning and washing up duties.

Primary Duties will include:  To assist the Kitchen Cook in their duties as required  To assist in preparing ingredients for meals e.g. peeling vegetables  To assist in serving meals onto plates  Helping to set out and clear away tables  Assisting with loading and unloading the dishwasher, washing up and putting away  Helping to clean work surfaces, cooker tops and ovens before/after cooking  To assist in keeping fridge and microwave clean  Helping to maintain a healthy and hygienic kitchen environment  To comply with good health and safety practice  Assist the Cook with food stock rotation.

Skills/Knowledge/Attitude:  Willing and able to follow instructions/guidance from the Lead Volunteer Cook  Willing to undertake food hygiene training (THH will help you with this).  Able to communicate with our Kitchen Cook in a clear and patient manner  Able to work well as part of a team  Reliability, commitment and trustworthiness Training  You will be guided through the key policies and procedures and asked to sign your agreement to follow them including a confidentiality agreement.  All volunteer roles require a DBS check. 5. IT Support Volunteer/Buddy

The purpose of this role is to enable both Clients and Volunteers to further their IT skills and to support Clients towards independence/employment improving their IT competence in an increasingly digital world.  This role offers a genuine opportunity to help people who find it difficult to secure or retain employment OR simply to assist a Client to learn some basic IT skills.

Primary Duties will include:  The IT Support Volunteer/Buddy will be providing 1:1 support to designated Clients, identified by the Caseworker team and help them to learn basic IT and gain skills and understanding so they can use a computer to access Universal Credit applications, prepare CVs and to apply for jobs.  The IT support Volunteer/Buddy will monitor progress and feedback to our Caseworkers.  The ideal candidate must have a passion for helping others, a desire to help people progress and ability to encourage and share learning of new skills. Skills/Knowledge/Attitude:  Competent in the use of IT equipment and software  Able to communicate well in a clear and patient manner  Able to work well as part of a team  Reliability, commitment and trustworthiness Training  You will be guided through the key policies and procedures and asked to sign your agreement to follow them including a confidentiality agreement.  All volunteer roles require a DBS check. THH will arrange this for you.  Reasonable Travel/Parking will be re-imbursed to you if required. (receipt required)  The post will be supervised by the Operations & Caseworker Leader

6. Client Volunteer Roles

We meet each person where they are, identify their strengths, aims and hopes and seek to empower them to become the best they can be as they engage on our SERVICES PATHWAY.

We are open Tuesday to Friday from 09.30 – 15.30 hrs Days and Hours of Work to be agreed with you  The Hope Hub encourages its’ Clients to volunteer as part of a progression pathway.  This role offers a genuine opportunity for Clients keen to develop and willing to carry out a range of duties to help others.

Primary Duties will include:
The roles available include porter duties, working in the kitchen, general cleaning duties and assisting the Welcome team with appropriate distribution of food parcels and tidying clothing, toiletries and food stores as guided by the Caseworker team or Ops and Caseworker Leader.

Skills/Knowledge/Attitude:

A positive outlook, manner and genuine desire to help people without discrimination is essential. You will be a people person with good listening and communication skills.  Able to work well as part of a team  Reliable, committed and trustworthy

Training:

You will be guided through the key policies and procedures and asked to sign your agreement to follow them including a confidentiality agreement.  All volunteer roles require a DBS check. THH will arrange this for you.  Reasonable Travel/Parking will be re-imbursed to you each week. (receipt required). The post will be supervised by Caseworker team/Operations & Caseworker Leader
